Day 8 - Arzua to O Pendrouzo

Arzua to O Pendrouzo

Day 8 - Saturday April 18 - 27474 steps

Left a little later today, around 7:30 and ate some fruit as I walked.
Stopped at Casa Calzada for a "pizza" and Zuma. And a cafe con leche of course.
I chatted a bit with a British guy I'd seen a few times so far.

Lots of beautiful trails and countryside

I took a very brief detour to see the Fuentes de Santa Irene

And then came across this woman taking her ducks for a walk

I stopped a little further on and stretched out on a stone bench to rest my feet.  And actually fell asleep. I only woke up because my phone slipped out of my hand.

After a painful start, I slowly caught up to a Spanish woman I had seen from time to time.  We never said more than 'hola' or 'buen camino' because she spoke barely any English.

The Australian couple I had seen a few days earlier came zooming past.  They were chatting loudly about something to do with their kids school.  They passed and turned to try to say something to the Spanish woman and she just nodded and smiled.

After they were out of sight, I said in a soft voice "El silencio es bueno".  The Spanish lady looked over her shoulder at me and smiled.

As my feet became more used to walking and my brain tuned out the pain, I sped up and passed the Spanish woman.  I soon caught up to a couple of women I had seen at the albergue the night before.  We chatted a bit.  One was Danish and the other was Dutch.

The albergue in Pendrouzo was on the main street.  It was a nice place and this was the first time I had the option to sleep in a non-bunkbed.  I checked in, showered and unpacked.  This gave my feet some respite.  But then. looking at Google Maps, the closest grocery store was about half a kilometer away!  So I squeezed my shoes back on and hobbled to the store for dinner and breakfast.
